I have been lucky in the hair department but two pivotal events in my life made me question my relationship with my locks: the death of my Mother and my work wife's horrific car accident. Apparently grief makes me lose about 50% of my hair volume.
My Mom died on January 30th, 2017. By April, 2017 I was Googling wigs, hair vitamins and extensions. I also realised that what I had taken for granted and flaunted all my life was something to be incredibly grateful for and to be more carefully curated in the future. Here is a picture from that time, not only is my hair a shit show but I look so broken.

Wigs: Sisters, to those of you whom have had to go down this route....you are Queens. It is expensive and a lot of maintenance according to my research. I quickly abandoned. I came to the same conclusion with extensions. I also realised that many of those I envied for having kick ass hair have supplemented with extensions. The more you know.
So, I went back to drawing board. My hair had been great once and it could be great again. I need to figure out how to get my hair to regrow. I theorised it was partially an inside job coupled with easing up on the highlights that I had gotten for the past 30 years. I began to wonder what my real hair color actually looked like. The inside job was supplements and I researched that up and down and landed on Happy Mammoth. After about 2 months of taking most of my hair growth was back on track and my scalp was also in better shape. For 10% discount use trestorun as a discount code.

The second thing I found in my research was infrared hair treatments and I landed on the Laduora product Duo 4-in-1 Pod Based Scalp and Hair Care Device. After using it for 1 year, not only did my grief hair loss revert but I also got brand new hair. I was a gymnast up until an injury railroaded me in my early teens and after many tight ponies for competitions, I had bald spots that were permanent. Or, so I thought. Not anymore, I have so much new hair that I almost have too much of it.
The third factor, when Covid arrived, my first pandemic purchase were Jaguar Professional Shears. I figured that my next hair appointment might not happen for a spell. Well, 4 years later and I am still cutting my own hair. Since I discovered that it was fun I started cutting my hair more frequently and the result was healthier and what it seems faster growing hair. I have also saved US 6950 in salon visits but who is counting!
Last but not least, I stopped doing salon highlights. As much as I miss Ryan, my confidante and hair artiste, salons dyes were taking its tolls. I also realised fairly quickly that my hair was grey in many spots. Something Ryan kindly had failed to let me know about. I tried to go natural but my grey hair was not doing it for me so I went back to the research board. This is when I found ESalon in London. I uploaded pictures of my hair and let the colorist know what my goals were and 10 days later I had my own color kit.
Not only did I love the convenience of colouring my hair when I felt like it but I also loved the fact that I could accommodate a chronic illness that used to take its toll every time I went to the hair dresser. My Ehler- Danlos makes sitting for extended periods of time pretty brutal, now I could split it up at my leisure. Before a hair appointment could result in 7 days in bed to recuperate.
So, here we are 6 years later after losing half most of hair and my Hair Curation that worked for me has been:
